Disturbances of sleep

Mara Fiorentino, M.D., can help with your disability claim.  Our office provides examinations and diagnoses to help determine if you are eligible to receive Disability.

Several neurological conditions are eligible for disability determination, depending on the level of impairment, including:

  • ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Syndrome (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)

  • Anterior poliomyelitis

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Epilepsy

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • Muscular dystrophy

  • Myasthenia gravis

  • Parkinsonian syndrome

  • Peripheral neuropathy

  • Syringomyelia

Some other conditions will qualify for Disability if there is:

  • Loss of speech or communication due to a neurological defect

  • Lack of motor function in two extremities causing significant difficulty or irregular gait

Mara Fiorentino, M.D., is also able to provide examinations to determine if a psychological condition is present that qualifies for Disability.

The presence of a mental health disorder does not automatically entitle a patient to disability benefits.  Many patients do not have a history of mental health disorders, but an examination can provide the evidence needed to apply for Disability.  The disability process is the same for any type of diagnosis.

A mental health or neurologic condition must create the inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity for a continuous period of no less than 12 months.
